FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Answers to what clients most often ask about registered massage therapy, coverage, and visits to our clinic.

Is massage therapy covered by my insurance?

Yes. Registered massage therapy is covered by most extended health insurance plans provided by insurance companies. Check your individual plan for your annual coverage amount and whether a physician's referral is required, and contact us if you have questions about receipts for your claim.

Is an RMT a healthcare professional?

Yes. A Registered Massage Therapist is a regulated healthcare professional — like nursing and other regulated health disciplines. RMTs complete accredited training, pass provincial examinations, and practice under a regulatory college with professional standards, which is why treatments are recognized by insurance plans.

What should I expect at my first session?

Your first visit begins with a confidential health history and consent for treatment. We then complete a clinical assessment: evaluating the type, texture, and tension of your muscles, checking the range of motion of relevant joints, and performing neurological and orthopedic testing if necessary. This tells us how your soft tissue and joints are producing the pain you present with, so we can choose the best way to treat you.

What should I wear to my appointment?

Wear whatever is comfortable. You will only ever be uncovered to the level of your comfort — draping is used throughout treatment, and some techniques can be performed fully clothed. Your therapist will explain everything and obtain your consent before starting.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on your condition, its severity, and how long you have had it. After your assessment, your therapist will recommend a treatment plan and adjust it based on how your body responds. Many clients feel a difference after the first session; longer-standing conditions typically benefit from a short series of treatments.

Does massage therapy hurt?

Treatment should never exceed your comfort level. Some techniques, such as deep tissue or trigger point work, can create a productive, tolerable intensity, but your therapist checks in with you and adapts pressure at all times. Communication is part of the treatment.

What techniques and tools do you use?

Beyond hands-on massage, we are certified to use a variety of techniques and tools: cupping, hot stone, trigger point therapy, manual lymphatic drainage, advanced joint play, reflexology, intra-oral (TMJ) treatment, and technology such as red, blue, and yellow light therapy, EMS, ultrasound, and hydrotherapy. The right combination is chosen from your assessment.

Do you also offer skincare services?

Yes. Alongside registered massage therapy, we provide skincare and medical-aesthetic services — oxygen therapy, oxygen dome, classical facials, microdermabrasion, microneedling, and skin scan — delivered with the same science- and safety-driven approach. Take care of your skin; beauty comes after.

Do you teach massage techniques?

Yes. We provide teaching of massage techniques and related skills by an RMT professional. Contact us for details.
